Practical use of Organization

Organization describes an actual company, nonprofit, group or other organization. It is useful for stating a verified name and official web presence, but it does not certify ownership or affiliation with another business.

Practical scenario

A company may operate several websites, publish blog articles and maintain social profiles. The Organization entity should represent the actual organization, rather than every tool or page as if it were a separate legal entity. Start with the verified public name and the site that belongs to the organization. If a business has a registered name that differs from its brand, confirm which value is appropriate for the particular page before publishing it. Avoid collecting unrelated social accounts merely to make the entity look more complete. Contact details should be verified against the official contact page and kept current. When a WebSite or Article points to the organization, use consistent identifiers so the relationship is understandable. Schema.org describes these relationships; it does not prove ownership or authorize a rich result.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Choose the organization that genuinely publishes or owns the content.
  • Use an official website URL only if it belongs to that organization.
  • Do not add social profiles or contact details unless they are verified and public.

Illustrative JSON-LD example

Example only: every placeholder must be replaced with verified, page-visible facts. This is not a complete Google rich-result implementation.
