How to use priceCurrency correctly

Specifies the currency used for a price. An ISO 4217 currency code is a common representation.

Common mistake to avoid

Match the currency of the actual offer and avoid guessing it from the website language or visitor location.

Applied example and verification

A website’s language and its currency are separate facts. An English-language site may sell in Pakistani rupees, US dollars or another currency depending on the offer. Use the currency recorded for the actual price rather than guessing from a country code, language selector or visitor location. If a store supports several currencies, confirm which offer and price are represented in the markup on the current page. Currency codes are typically expressed using ISO 4217, but the code alone does not establish that the offer is genuine. A valid-looking priceCurrency with an incorrect price can still mislead users. The example is deliberately not a real currency claim; replace it only after checking the merchant record.
