How to use datePublished correctly
Records the publication date of a creative work or another entity where applicable.
Common mistake to avoid
Use the real publication date; it must not be copied from a build timestamp or generated in bulk.
Applied example and verification
A datePublished value should record when the work was actually made public. A file modification time, build timestamp or batch content-generation date may not be the publication date. If eight articles are created together as drafts, giving them all the same current date can falsely imply that they were published and reviewed. Maintain real editorial records and supply dates only after the publication decision. If the work was revised later, consider whether a separate modification date is appropriate instead of rewriting its publication history. Use a valid date representation and ensure that the value is not in the future relative to the claimed publication event. The YYYY-MM-DD sample here is a format hint, not an invented publication date.
